What is the Rider Resilience Programme?
The Rider Resilience Programme is a Surrey & Sussex Police led pilot programme that brings together expertise from Police advanced riders, the Road Safety Trust, DVSA, and specialist motorcycle trainers. We've analysed recent collision data to identify the main contributory factors in motorcycle incidents, and we've designed this course specifically to address these issues.
This is not about blame or fault. Whether the collision you experienced was your fault or not, this course is about supporting you, building on your experience, and helping you become a more confident and safer rider for the future.
Requirements to undertake the course
- You must bring your current UK driving licence (Plastic part) when you attend the course. If you have the old style paper Licence, then you need a current passport as well. Without these, you cannot take part in the course.
- You must also bring a road legal motorcycle and Motorcycle PPE. More details are available here
- You must have a good understanding of English, especially when we are out on the road as we use one way radio communications to give instructions and directions. If you cannot follow our instructions, your course may be stopped on safety grounds. Interpreters / translators cannot be brought along.
- You must arrive for your course 15 mins before it is due to start. We cant wait for you, and if you arrive late, you will miss the course.
- If you need glasses or contact lenses to see at distance, bring these with you. You will be asked to read a number plate from 20 metres.
